Emma the Cat

I love this bright and super glittery paper but found it too hard to cover it up. What's a girl to do? Keep it simple of course. The image I used is from Fred She Said and it is called Emma the cat, hence the title. She is adorable and comes pre-colored and in pure digi form. There are even colored papers that work so well with her. As you can see I'm trying to post all my Halloween projects before the big night. And don't forget the digi of the week sale is going on. Here's a quick card I made using a Fred She Said pre-colored image called Wheelbarrow. I also used the Polka Dotty Flowers set to create the butterfly shape accent. To acheive the look I simply cut off a couple of the flower petals. I may have to make some butterfly accents soon. I wish I could say that I was the clever one who thought of it but it was Alyssa, my 7 year old. You can find her blog HERE.

In my thoughts

I'm back with my classic red and black combination. I love the contrast. I've paired it up with one of my favorite Fred She Said images: Monarch Butterfly. I'm also still digging through my paper scraps. I still have an endless supply of them. Of course I know I'll never run out of them especially since I seem to make more than I use. I still like to think that I'm making progress. Also Fred She Said is still having a digi sale each week. This week its the Wheelbarrow and its 30% off.

Emma in the Leaves - Digi Sale

Tracey at Fred She Said had an idea. A good one too. Each week one of the DT members picks an image of the week and showcases it. How does that help you? Well that digi will be on sale that week (30% off). How's that for an incentive? Since the leaves will be changing colors and the air will soon become crisp I choose Emma in the leaves as my image. She came pre-colored which made my card come together quickly.

As you can see their is some flexibility in the image. I only used a small portion of it for my card. You can see the full colored version of the image below. She is also available as an inline image (un-colored) as well.

"Make a Gift Set"

This week's Digital Tuesday's Challenge is to create a gift set. I wasn't sure what type of gift set to make so I decided to make a Halloween Scrapbook Kit. I plan on adding to the kit in the next few days and hope to complete at least 2 scrapbook pages of the event.

Rosey

Here's a quick card using Rosey from Fred She Said and some left over paper scraps. I can't seem to stop myself from digging into my scrap drawer. I am really starting to think that I should select a piece of designer paper and see how many cards I can make with it. Come to think of it that would be a fun challenge don't you think?

I miss you

I have to say that having pre-colored images can come in handy. Don't get me wrong, I love to color but sometimes I need a card quick and only have time to print and assemble. Here's one of those cards I made using the pre-colored blue pansies set from Fred She Said. It came together quickly and I was able to continue to use up more of my designer paper scraps.

Here's the first part of my "Fred She Said" creation:

I started out with the Emma the Mermaid Coloured Set which came with a pre-coloured underwater background and several accessories. I re-sized my background to 6 inches in width and to make things really simple I resized the coloured sheet (included in the set) also to 6 inches so that all the images were resized at the same time. Then all I had to do was cut out the images and prep them for the background. My girls will definitely have fun creating their own scenes.

Here's what the background scene looks like when the accessories are added. If you want to really get more bang for your buck you can apply 2 way glue to the back of the accessory images or use removable tape so the images can be removed and applied again and again.

Dancing Daisy

I am trying to use circles more and I am trying to incorporate more spring like colors. Since the card design is on the simple side I decided to add some dry embossing to give it a more textured look. I also paper pierced around the flower petals for a little extra something. The daisy image is from the Dancing Daisies digital set from Fred She Said. What I love about this image is that it can be used for several occassions such as Birthday, Get Well, Thinking of you, Just a note, etc. That and the fact that it can be easily re-sized and printed. This is especially important if you are making several of the same or similar cards. Be sure to stop by the FSS blog for some inspiration and for some great freebies.

Fred She Said Showcase

I hope you've been following Fred She Said blog for the DT project showcases. There have been some great ones so far. Since it was my turn I decided to make a fun little project using the Polka Dotty Flowers set. I love the idea of making handmade embellishments especially when I can make an unlimited amount of them for a fraction of the cost. The Polka Dotty Flowers set contains 14 different printable sheets, with 3 flower designs on each sheet. They come in a variety of colors so you can easily find one that is best suited for your project. Please see below for a step by step guide of how I used a printable sheet to create my own flower embellishments.

I started with the Raspberry colored printable sheet as seen below:


Then I cut them out leaving an 1/8 inch white edge around each flower. I also cut out the pre-colored leaves included on the printable sheet.

I sponged around the edges with a coordinating color ink and added glitter for a more finished look:

Then I added pink buttons tied with silver cord:

And placed them in a clear window rectangle tin decorated with a tag from the All Occassion Tag printable set from The Cutting Cafe.

And to think that it all started with one printable sheet of paper. It may seem like a lengthy process but really didn't take very long. I tend to do my cutting in front of the television so time goes by quickly. Of course you could add different finishing touches such as brads or pearls in place of the buttons and can leave out the sponging and/or glitter. You can also choose how many layers you want to make the flowers and can choose polka dots, non-polka dots or a mixture of the two.

Good Morning!! I thought I'd share a fun little card today. For some reason I'm into making smaller cards. Maybe because they come together quickly or maybe because I'm getting tired of the standard size and shape. All I know is that I don't think you could go wrong with this cute little image from Fred She Said. It's called Rosey with a flower and I think its adorable. The sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe. It's included in the Because Nice Matters set. It's also this week's Fred She Said Challenge card. The challenge was to make a card with 3 hearts. The hearts I added although subtle are there. I used the small flower stamp which started as a single image. Since its digital it was very easy to line up and print out as a single image. I also printed out an extra flower image so I could pop up the middle flower. The inside of the card has "Get Well Soon". The designer papers are from My Minds Eye.
