Road Trip

I finally had a little time to squeeze in a project. I used Stampin Up's 'Under the Stars' set for this one because it was the only image that I could find that wouldn't cover up too much of the designer paper. The card design is from Splitcoaststampers Card Sketch Challenge SC208. For some reason I had a hard time coloring the bear with my Copics (can't seem to get it right) so I 'cheated' and used ink pads and a sponge dauber. He almost appears fuzzy that way. I'm sure I'll use this sketch again. If you are interested in trying out the challenge you can find the sketch below.

Quick and Easy Valentines

With the kids being home more often and the holiday I haven't had much time for making projects. Its now time to get started getting in Valentine mode. I found this awesome designer paper at my local scrapbook store. Its by Fancy Pants Designs Inc. and has 12 different valentines day pictures on each sheet. The back of the paper has To and From on it so you could cut out each rectangle and use them as valentines day cards. I chose to add a layer or two and a little ribbon to jazz them up a bit. Here's the first two:

Hello Winter

With all the snow and ice we've been getting in Iowa lately I thought I'd channel winter and make a winter themed card. I thought it would be fun to go pink since I've been using a lot of chocolate chip lately. Its a welcomed change even if I still can't help myself and have to use the Cuttlebug yet again. What can I say I just love the added texture and its a lot easier than trying to find the right background stamp.

Christmas is here

I put off making Christmas cards so long that I ended up making something ultra simple and without ribbon *gasp*. At least these won't require extra postage. I'm still in the process of writing them out but plan on mailing them first thing Monday morning so they should reach the majority of people in time. I really need to start making Christmas cards throughout the year to make things easier. I used supplies I had on hand this year but hope to plan ahead next time. Soon I'll be able to focus on Valentines Day cards and a kindergarten activity. If you have any simple project ideas for a school activity please let me know.

Pink Papery Studios - Weekly Challenge

Today's Challenge was to create designer paper using stamps. I decided to make it easy on myself and to use just one digital sentiment. I used Photoshop and created a text only patterned paper and created a scene using other digital stamps from Pink Papery Studios as the main image.

Whiff of Joy - Lizzie

Here's my very first Whiff of Joy card. I couldn't have made it without Janna. We recently swapped images and I was the lucky recipient of this wonderful image. She even stamped it on Neenah paper. A first from me as well. I have to say that I can't imagine using any other paper with my Copics. Thanks so much Janna I love the images and plan on using more of them soon.

Tinkerbell

Disney_Tinkerbell

I needed a birthday card for a little girl who is turning 5. She adores Tinkerbell so I thought I'd make a card that matched her gift bag. I can't find the stamp anywhere around here but was lucky to receive a couple images from a fellow Wish Raker. Since the image was pre-stamped this card was a quick and easy one and took less than 10 minutes to make from start to finish. Which was great because I forgot to make it until early this morning.

A winter tag

Here are two projects using digital images from Pink Papery Studios. The stamp set is called Catch a falling snowflake. It can be purchased in digital or stamp form. One of the benefits of going digital is that you get the set right away and you don't have to pay for shipping and handling.

Here's the first project:

Paper: Bashful Blue, White, Kiwi Kiss, Reminsce DP
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Bashful Blue
Accessories: Copics, Organdy Ribbon, Silver Brad, Dimensionals, The Paper Studio Gemstones

Here's the second project:

The weekly Pink Papery Studios challenge was to create a tag with the following color combination: Purple, Blue, White and Silver. I ended up using green instead of blue because my internet connection was down for a couple of hours and I remembered the color combo a little differently than it actually was :)

Friends Forever

Here's a card I made with the Lily and Billy winter set from Pink Cat Studio. Coloring these little cuties is so much fun. I recently bought one of those big 12 X 12 pads of paper from Me and My Big Ideas and am having lots of fun with it. I also used my new curvy label punch from Stampin Up. Can you ever really have enough punches?

Warm Hearts

It's very rare that I am able to complete Splitcoaststampers challenges on the same day that they are posted. I had the day off today so I've been getting a lot of stamping done.

This image is from Pink Papery Studios. Since its a digital image I was able to resize it to 1 inch circles-perfect for today's card sketch challenge (SC206). I wanted the card to have a warm feeling to it so I chose comforting colors such as chocolate chip and purely pomegranate. If you look closely at the card you'll see that I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder and to make it really pop I punched out additional CB circles with my 1 inch punch and staggered them on the card. Another option would be to sponge tone on tone ink onto the embossed portions of the pattern and on the edges of the card. Its a subtle way to add a little wow to your project.

My dear kind and wonderful friend

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Its great spending time with family. Here's one of the projects that I made last night. I started it with a different image in mind but found that this simple sentiment was all that it needed. I also made an 8 X 8 scrapbook page but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see that one. The layout is a simply one and I haven't added any pictures yet but thought that if I'm going to ease back into it I need to start somewhere.

'Tis the season so here's another Christmas card. I haven't decided what I'm making this year so I thought I'd try out several different options. I may end up with quick and simple but you never know. It really comes down to time and mood. This card was made with a retired set called Sidekick Sayings. I ended up trading a different stamp set for this one well after it retired. The set didn't interest me when it was available and then one day I just had to have it. That's just how it goes sometimes.

Season of Friendship

Here's a card I made with my new Pink Cat Studio set called Lily and Billy Winter. I wanted to practice coloring so I decided to color the image with my Copics rather than paper piecing their coats, etc. I'm sure I'll do a bit of paper piecing on the next one. I am a big fan of the new In Colors and thought it would be better to get them early so I could get good use out of them before they are gone forever. I chose Pacific Point blue only because I colored the image before picking out my paper-one thing to avoid if possible. I was lucky enough to find paper to match-luckily I do keep a large quantity of paper scraps on hand.

Diabetes Awareness Month - DT Challenge

November is Diabetes Awareness month. We were challenged by one of the DT girls, Cassie to make a card to support Diabetes. The awareness ribbon color for diabetes is gray to represent the drudgery of dealing with diabetes every day. A red dot is often shown on the ribbon to represent the multiple times a day that a diabetic must check their blood. If you'd like to learn more about Diabetes click on the Diabetes Ribbon. The challenge is to make a card using the colors gray and red . If you would like to join in on the challenge you can go over and post a link to your card in a comment at Pink Papery Studio's so everyone can see it! We would all love to see what you come up with.

Here's my first card using a digital background paper created by Jami. I wanted more flowers in the paper so I ended up cutting out a couple and adding them on top of the printed paper. That way I was able to create my own pattern.

The Rubber Cafe- Floral Heart

I enjoyed Wednesday's card sketch so much that I had to make another card with it. This time I used The Rubber Cafe's Floral Heart and Love Words Stamps. I went back to my bold colors and chose Real Red and Basic Black. I just love that combination. Another dreary day hence the somber photo. I am planning on making a card studio this weekend so hopefully I am able to get some decent pictures. I've been spoiled by beautiful sunny days.

A boy and his dog

OK I have to admit that I don't have any pets and do not plan on changing that but I do love to make pet cards. I got this image from the Wish Rak group. I don't know the name of the stamp but I do know that its a High Hopes image. Its also a card for today's Ways to use it challenge (WT191) on Splitcoast. The theme was to use corner punches. I went for subtly with this card but like how it turned out especially since I only had one image to work with.

Patriotic Sophie

In honor of the Presidential election I made a card using Red, White and Blue. Its been awhile since I've made a moose card (only because I need to order Copic refills. Not your typical Patriotic image I know. I only had time for one quick card last night and was in a Sophie mood so I went with it.

I used my Prisma Colored Pencils and Gamsol technique to color the image. I don't have any Nestabilities dies or Spellbinders yet so I used my Marvy scallop punch and made a free hand circle as the layer. I finally used my star eyelets and star punches.

Its time for fall cards and I've seen a lot of great ones in the gallery. I had a little time while there was still daylight (I usually stamp at night while the kiddos are asleep) so I made a quick fall card. I used the pumpkin from Stampin Up's Little Layers II set. I also used a fall stamp set that I found in Target's Dollar aisle. I definitely need to check there more often.

I am trying to incorporate more Cuttlebug folders since there are several that I had to have. Less guilt that way. I've also been debating whether I should post a new challenge on a designated day of the week. Technique Tuesday or something along those lines. I'm still tossing ideas around my head. You'll be the first to know if I come up with something. I need to challenge myself to do more.
