Back in the day...

When I was in the 8th grade I used to go roller skating on Saturday afternoons. I'd spend hours skating along to the music with my friend Judy, eating junk food and having a good time.

 

Seeing this image - Roller Mae - from Some Odd Girl really brought back some fond memories. I never had stars on my skates but would have if I had the option back then. Thanks for looking and I hope you bring in the New Year with creativity and inspiration.

 

 

 

I'm still working on getting my Mojo back so I've been checking out some of the challenge blogs and decided to make a card that incorporated several of the monthly themes going on so here's the list of challenges that this card qualifies for:

Create a Background Challenge

I know its been ages since I've posted and I'm slowly working my way back. I thought the best way to get a jump start was with a challenge.

I needed some inspiration so I decided to check out what Some Odd Girl has been up to.  It turns out that they are now selling clear stamps as well as digital stamps. I'm still a digi girl at heart but love that they have both options.

This month's challenge is called "Create a Background." I wanted my image to be the showcase so I stamped a black and white background. It felt good to get a little ink on my fingers. Here's what I came up with.

Some Odd Girl Challenge

It's been awhile since I made a card using a Some Odd Girl
image. Their images are just my style - cute and sweet.

I made this card for the Some Odd Girl Challenge. The challenge theme is "Think Spring."

I don't know about you but I am definitely ready for warmer weather and sunshine. I decided to use the Sunny Tia image for my card. She is part of the March 1st release. Isn't she adorable in her orange and green outfit?

I created the background paper by printing the Clock Background from The Cutting Cafe on Kraft paper. I'm glad I decided to print it out on a full sheet of cardstock because it is a lot more versatile than I first thought.

Here's how the card ended up:

I used a circle punch and punched out one of the clock faces to add a little dimension to the background. It's hard to see on the picture but it looks really neat IRL (In real life).

Pretty Cool

Some Odd Girl is having a sketch challenge this week so I thought I'd play along even though I no longer design for them. I kind of miss my former Odd Girls. It gave me an excuse to use my Tiny Tia image. I just love how sweet she looks. I can't wait for more Tia's to be released. I think she is my new favorite. Style Challenge

This time at Some Odd Girl the Style Challenge is to create a project with a punny sentiment. My sentiment isn't very punny I know. Sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don't. Anyway, the other Odd Girls came up with lots of pun so be sure to check them out. I thought I'd also mention that this is my last post for Some Odd Girl. It's hard to believe that my term has ended (*sniff:sniff*) but it certainly won't be my last project with their wonderful images. Speaking of images my project is featuring Baker Kaylee. She's newly released and super cute.

Digital Tuesday Challenge

Since we are full swing into summer this week's Digital Tuesday Challenge is to make a project that says summer. I'm not sure what it is but I have been doing more and more scrapbooking lately. I am slowly getting back into it by creating 8 X 8 pages and made a couple of 12 X 12 pages the other day. You'll have to wait a bit to see those...all I'll say is that they even have pictures. For this page I used the Floatie Mae image from Some Odd Girl that was released earlier this month. The cute little black and white arrow is from The Cutting Cafe. The set is called Assorted Arrows. Anyway, head on over to the Digital Tuesday Challenge blog for the deets and to see what the DT came up with this week. Cute stuff!

Stash Challenge - Make it Shimmer

Time for a super cool challenge with Some Odd Girl. The theme this time around is: Make it SHIMMER! Include some stuff that will add SPARKLE or SHINE! Of course Mermae is the perfect image for it too. It's not everyday that an image can pull off blue hair *LOL* I hope you enjoyed yesterday's sneak peek now here is the complete project. I also used some printable stamps from The Cutting Cafe on this one. The arrow is from the Assorted Arrows Set (over 45 images in this fun set), I love Summer Circle Word and Sentiment Stems and Flower Pots Set.




And here's the close up I shared yesterday. Unfortunately I took the picture before I sprayed it with Shimmer mist and added additional pearls.

Digital images have a lot to offer when compared to their rubber counterparts. They store easily, can be resized and flipped and can save you a little $$. One of my favorite things to do with Digi's is to change the orientation of the image. In other words create a mirror image to fit my needs. Here's how:

Select and re-size image of choice. I tend to re-size my images to a height of 3.25 inches.



Then go to Image > Rotate Canvas > Flip Canvas Horizontal



You'll end up with this:



It's just as simple as that. Not only that but its like having two stamps in one. Thanks for joining in on the hop.

It's challenge time! Today, the Odd Girls will be bringing you alternating "Stash and Style" challenges every other Thursday, with lots of yummy projects from our Odd Girls to inspire you! To my beautiful mother

I am still having fun with last month's freebie from Some Odd Girl. I just love the Kaylee collection and don't worry I've been playing with some of the new images as well so you'll see some new ones very soon. I added a little paper piecing for her dress. I wish you could see all the details of the dp I used for it. It really brings out the yellow in the background paper. I thought it would be fun to make the image more of a focal point so I added a circle sentiment from The Cutting Cafe (All about mom set). Since both the image and sentiment are digital I created one single image in Photoshop and printed it in one swoop. I was able to re-size them both to fit my needs. Can't complain about that.
