Verve's Diva Challenge #1

This card was made for the Verve Diva Challenge on Splitcoaststampers. I have to say that I was a little nervous using the color combination but I must admit that the colors blend nicely together. I also thought I'd make a more feminine card since I've been making more Riley cards lately. I hope you enjoy the change of pace.

Baking Riley

I know, I know another Riley. I have a fascination for the moose. This card is 4.25 X 8. Its been ages since I've used those dimensions. I'm new to Dew Drops so I may have gone just a little overboard with them. They add a nice touch to any project. I'm also trying to get more use out of my punches. The slot punch is one of my favorites right now. If you look closely you can see that I glued two scalloped rectangle punches together in order to make the first mat layer for the image. Of course I thre in a little paper piecing. I also added a little hole poking on the chocolate strip to add a little hand crafting feel to it.

Unity Tree

I bought a couple new stamp sets recently. This image is from Unity Stamp Co. and is called Tiny Trilogy. There are two other tree stamps in the set but unfortunately I haven't had the time to give them the attention that they deserve.

I wasn't sure what type of sentiment was appropriate for the card so I decided to omit it while hoping to acheive a more dramatic effect. I dusted off my corner rounder punch off as well as my white gel pen. I have to say that together they created an interesting look. You can't tell by the card but the Bo Bunny Press designer paper actually has little blue birds on it. I covered it with the tree image. The birds are adorable but weren't quite right for this look.

Butterfly Quotation

I thought I'd give you a break from Rileys but only for a day. You'll see a new Riley card tomorrow. This quote is from Unity Stamp Co. This quote would look great on a scrapbook page as well. Its really hard to see but the butterfly's were also covered with Crystal Effects.

Hey there cupcake

Here's another Riley. When I mentioned declaring a Riley week I wasn't kidding. This time its baking Riley from Hanna Stamps. Since I only have a handful of copics I ended up paper piecing a good portion of the image and colored in Riley. The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co. and I love how it is a mixed font sentiment.

A little pickup

Here's a card with another one of my new Rileys from Hanna Stamps. I wasn't in the mood for coloring when I made this so I thought I'd work in a little paper piecing instead. Although its not a focal point of the card I used my slot punch to make the scalloped edge. I'll definitely have to do this more.

I wanna be a cowboy

Woohoo! I finally inked up one of my new Riley's from Hanna Stamps. I needed to make a card for Verve's starry challenge (a card that has stars on it) and here's what I ended up with. I have 5 more Riley stamps to ink up yet. I may have to declare a Riley week.

Anyway, there are a few things I would like to mention about this card. First off, the WANTED panel was originally stamped on white cardstock. See what a little sponging can do? I used chocolate chip, more mustard and really rust ink pads to acheive the look. Not bad, huh? Also I don't own the small star punch but luckily I am a saver. I made a card awhile back at one of my SU workshops and rather than throwing away the scrap stars I decided to take them home with me. I must say that I am sure glad that I did. I also used a Stazon Black ink pad and rubbed it on the screwdriver brad to remove some of the shine. Lastly there is some paper piecing done as well. I paper pieced Riley's hat and bandana.

Stamps: Hanna Stamps, Wanted
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, White, Very Vanilla, Outlaw DP
Ink: Stazon Black, Brilliance Graphite Black, More Mustard, Really Rust, Chocolate Chip Accessories: Copics, Copper Brads, Spareparts Brad, Large Star Punch, Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Sponge, Single Hole Punch, Paper Distressing Tool

Alternate view: It was made standard size 4.25 X 5.5 inches but was scored at 1 inch at the bottom of the card (where designer stripe paper is attached) so that it could be a standard size card with a different opening or it could stand on its own by simply flipping up the flap. It could also be easily be altered to hold a cellophane bag or small gift. See the pictures below:
