Fred She Said Showcase

I hope you've been following Fred She Said blog for the DT project showcases. There have been some great ones so far. Since it was my turn I decided to make a fun little project using the Polka Dotty Flowers set. I love the idea of making handmade embellishments especially when I can make an unlimited amount of them for a fraction of the cost. The Polka Dotty Flowers set contains 14 different printable sheets, with 3 flower designs on each sheet. They come in a variety of colors so you can easily find one that is best suited for your project. Please see below for a step by step guide of how I used a printable sheet to create my own flower embellishments.

I started with the Raspberry colored printable sheet as seen below:

Then I cut them out leaving an 1/8 inch white edge around each flower. I also cut out the pre-colored leaves included on the printable sheet.

I sponged around the edges with a coordinating color ink and added glitter for a more finished look:

Then I added pink buttons tied with silver cord:

And placed them in a clear window rectangle tin decorated
with a tag from the All Occassion Tag printable set from The Cutting Cafe.

Here are a couple of cards I made using the handmade flowers:

And finally here's a group photo of a fun little gift idea for a fellow cardmaker:

And to think that it all started with one printable sheet of paper. It may seem like a lengthy process but really didn't take very long. I tend to do my cutting in front of the television so time goes by quickly. Of course you could add different finishing touches such as brads or pearls in place of the buttons and can leave out the sponging and/or glitter. You can also choose how many layers you want to make the flowers and can choose polka dots, non-polka dots or a mixture of the two.

Thanks for dropping by and I do hope this post has given you a little inspiration. Remember you can check out the Fred She Said blog to view the remaining printable sheets as well as many others.

Nicest Thoughts

Good Morning!! I thought I'd share a fun little card today. For some reason I'm into making smaller cards. Maybe because they come together quickly or maybe because I'm getting tired of the standard size and shape. All I know is that I don't think you could go wrong with this cute little image from Fred She Said. It's called Rosey with a flower and I think its adorable. The sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe. It's included in the Because Nice Matters set. It's also this week's Fred She Said Challenge card. The challenge was to make a card with 3 hearts. The hearts I added although subtle are there. Head on over to the Fred She Said Challenge Blog for the rules of the challenge and some inspiration. I sure hope you can play along this week.

Stamps: Fred She Said -

Game on

We the Bakers have cooked up another weekly challenge. Thanks to all of you that participated last week. Your cards were awesome. This week's challenge is to use only 1 type of embellishment. You can use as many of the same thing as you wish but just 1 type of embellishment. This includes ribbon. I have to admit that I was a little worried about this one. I went with my favorite Maggie image (Flower Maggie) from Humble Pie stamps and The Town Scrapper. I dug deep into my designer scrap pile and went with the flow. Check out the Humble Pie Blog for some fabulous inspiration and I hope you join in this week.

It's paradise

It's Challenge time, Pixie Style. This week's challenge is to use a charm. I found the ring charm at Hobby Lobby sometime ago. I thought it would go perfectly with one of the newly released images from Pixie Dust Studio. This one is called Forever Love. It reminds me of those Precious Moments figurines. The flowers you see in the picture are from my birthday cake which were made out of flowers. I wish you could see how gorgeous the cake really is. Thanks Joe and Jeannie for thinking of me. Now back to the challenge info. Head on over to the Pixie Dust Studio blog for more details on this week's challenge and to see the eye candy the DT has come up with this week using the Paradise collection of images. More Paradise cards to come so stay tuned.

The February freebie is one you don't want to miss. I hope you can join us this week for the Digital Tuesday challenge and for a chance to win some free digi's. Two winners will be chosen this week. Welcome to the SECOND "FRED SHE SAID" blog hop!!! If you just happened to drop by my blog and you are not aware of this wonderful event taking place, please go back to the "FRED SHE SAID" blog here and start your hop! We would love it if you commented on our posts. Here, at "Fred" we have been getting all FLOWERy to hasten the arrival of SPRING!

I used the small flower stamp which started as a single image. Since its digital it was very easy to line up and print out as a single image. I also printed out an extra flower image so I could pop up the middle flower. The inside of the card has "Get Well Soon". The designer papers are from My Minds Eye.

My special code word is: SPRING

Angel Dove

I know Valentine's Day is coming up and Christmas is long gone but I'm trying really hard to make Christmas cards ahead of time this year. Rather than making the same card over and over I've decided to make them all different and more importantly not to wait until the last minute. The image is from KLM Digital Designs and is called Dove and Angel. The digital image is a single angel. I just designed to give it a more choir look by positioning two angels in the back and one in front. That's why I love digital. :) They just came out with a new digi "sick bear trio" that I just love. It's on my wish list along with a handful of others. Take a look here to see it just don't blame me for enabling you and don't tell me you have it...I'll be green with envy *LOL* The sentiment is from the All About Christmas set from The Cutting Cafe.

Stamps: KLM Digital Designs - Dove & Angel, The Cutting Cafe - All About Christmas
Paper: Real Red, Kraft (yay I used it), Soft Sky, White, October Afternoon DP -i {heart} papers
